Outreach

“None of us is an island, an autonomous and independent ‘I,’ separated from the other, and we can only build the future by standing together, including everyone.” (Pope Francis)

Hospital Ministry

St. Anthony Parish is committed to giving care to the sick and dying. Extraordinary Ministers bring a sacramental presence to those they serve, whether bringing the Body of Christ and/or bringing their own presence with those suffering.

Homebound Ministry

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion take the Body of Christ to the sick and the homebound of our Parish community at least once a week. Training provided.

Grief and Beyond Ministry

St. Anthony’s Grief and Beyond Ministry offers ongoing support, resources, spiritual care, and encouragement through facilitated group work. For information regarding the group, contact Kay Mulliner at 206-246-6358.

St. Vincent De Paul Society

Volunteers are men and women who meet weekly and serve those in need in our neighborhood and Parish community. They make home visits as much as possible, assessing the needs of those who have asked for assistance. Volunteers also organize the St. Vincent collection, make phone calls, and work with the pantry where volunteers can make up bags of food and lunch sacks for those who come in during the week for food. Contact: 425-255-3132 for more information.

ARISE (Men’s Shelter)

Offers temporary shelter to homeless men. Catholic Community Services screens the men who will be staying in a different church facility each month. St. Anthony Parishioners undertake that responsibility for the months of February and August each year. Responsibilities include welcoming the participants, preparing and serving meals, and coming together in prayer as they arrive at our Parish Hall each evening.

Christmas Giving Program

In the Christmas Season, St. Anthony parishioners purchase gifts for families in the Renton community that call for support and distribute these gifts before Christmas.

Operation Rice Bowl

As part of the Lenten Season, St. Anthony Parishioners are invited to further support Catholic Relief Services, an organization which helps alleviate suffering of the children of God at home and abroad. Offerings are collected on Holy Thursday.

Shoeboxes of Joy

For the Easter season, St. Anthony’s collaborates with Assisted Living Communities, Pregnancy Aide, ARISE, Dorothy Day Home, and YWCA Teen Shelter to bring appropriate gifts for each community. St. Anthony Parishioners are invited to give the needed items in a decorated shoe box, to be distributed to our collaborators.
