Not-So-Ordinary Baby Shower: Spiritual Adoption Ministry Hightlight

Walking into a room full of gifts, carefully folded baby clothes, mounds of diapers, cookies and desserts, one might think, “When is the little bundle of joy coming?” Yet, in a real way, “the bundle of joy” is knowing that every life is sacred and honored despite any kind of circumstance. It is the joy of life. This is what was celebrated today on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, which is a feast day in our faith tradition that honors the lives of those children put to death by King Herod’s wrath after being duped by the Magi foiling his pursuit for the Christ-child’s life. We asked a parishioner and volunteer, Kim Racine, to give us a bit about the celebration and what this ministry is about.

“Today, we wrapped up our Spiritual Adoption ministry year with a wonderful baby shower on the feast of the Holy Innocents. We are blessed with Father Jack’s support of this wonderful ministry that raises awareness of life in the womb, prays for nine months for babies in danger of abortion and their mothers, and culminates with our baby shower that raises money for PREPARES. PREPARES offers a wide range of support to pregnant women and families with children up to the age of five that are free of charge and open to people all faiths and backgrounds.

Thank you for your prayers this year and for your donations to PREPARES. We look forward to continuing this life-giving ministry with you in 2018. We also welcome post-abortive women to participate in this ministry as your prayers for the unborn are so powerful.”
