St. Anthony of Padua Biography

Saint Anthony

St. Anthony of Padua (Patron)

It is appropriate that St Anthony of Padua was selected as the patron of our parish, since the Italian community in Renton was instrumental in the founding and growth of the parish.

Born:                     1195, Fernando Martins de Bulhões in Lisbon, Portugal.

Died:                      13 June 1291, at the Poor Clare monastery at Arcella (now part of Padua), aged 35.

Canonized:           1232, by Pope Gregory IX.

Proclaimed a Doctor of the Church:     16 January 1946, by Pope Pius XII
