“Remain here and keep watch with me.” (Matt 26:38)
Here at St. Anthony Parish, our 1st Friday observance commences with Mass of the Sacred Heart at 7:30 pm, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. An overnight vigil is kept, which closes with Morning Prayer (7:15 am), Benediction and 1st Saturday Marian Devotion (7:30 am), and morning Mass (8:00 am). We are in need of individuals who would be willing to keep vigil with the Lord during Friday night/Saturday morning, most especially between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 4:00 am.
We have observed this liturgical act of worship in the parish for many years, and would very much like to continue this expression of love for the Lord. As you may be aware, whenever the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar there should be a minimum of two people present at all times. Therefore, we are asking for a commitment of at least one hour during the night from those who are willing to spend some personal time with Jesus.
An hour of your time dedicated to the Lord is time very well spent in thanksgiving for what He has given to us - our salvation and His sacred presence among us in the Blessed Sacrament. It is His desire to remain with us, and for us to remain with Him, in this sacrament of love and thanksgiving.
Let it ever be ou desire also!
